Free Guy Movie Review
by Carlos Merlo
When thinking about Video Game movies, Ratchet and Clank, Sonic, Ready Player One and Mortal Kombat pop up. Ratchet and Clank was not enjoyable for me, probably because I didn’t like the animation or perhaps because I never played any of the games. Next, Sonic was not pleasant for me as well, while they did change up Sonic’s design, I just didn’t find it entertaining, it seemed that it was too bland and not too funny like I anticipated . Mortal Kombat’s bad usage of CGI and plot was the reason for its unpopularity. If you are going to make a video game movie, why alter the plot and ruin the entire story. For me, the games were more enjoyable than the movie. Ready Player One on the other hand was an awesome movie, although it was not based on a game. This displays a trend: when movies are based on games, they tend to fail in popularity and entertainment. Thus when they announced Free Guy, I thought It was either going to be a giant win or a giant flop.
